Cortina U4 generation 2 headlight

A design-update to the U4 generation 1 headlight, originally designed by StudioMOM, mostly focusing on improving light & energy efficiency and usability. A switch from AAA to AA batteries and from back- to side-activation of the headlight.

The goals of this project:

  • Improvement of light efficiency, intensity and battery life.

  • Change of battery type & internal architecture from AAA to AA

  • Impact & Sizing study

  • Preserving the exterior shape & design intent as much as possible.

  • Improvement of Moisture tightness

  • Adding of tamper protection

  • Adding of structural Poka Yoke principle for (re-)assembly

  • Improvement of durability & lifespan through structural optimizations

  • Improvement of usability by switching light activation & internal configuration from the back to the side of the housing

  • RKF standards
